Xabi Alonso has confirmed talks with the former sports director Max Eberl regarding a commitment to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
“I talked to Max Eberl at that time,” Alonso said in a _rtl_interview. But now he was at home and immediately after exchanging with Eberl, he extended his contract at Real Sociedad.
“I have to grow something, improve me to become a good coach,” the 40-year-old explained, “Who knows what the future brings.”
The former midfielstar, who played in his career for the FC Liverpool, Real Madrid and the FC Bayern Munich, was traded in March 2021 briefly as a possible successor to Marco Rose near Gladbach. Since 2019, Alonso works as a coach of the second team of Real Sociedad.

Eberl had declared his withdrawal as a sports director at Gladbach at the end of January at the end of January.
